Govt linking BNP with recent killings out of vengeance: Khaleda
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today blamed the government for the recent deaths in militant attacks and alleged that it is shifting the burden to opposition party.
“Serial killing is on while the government is blaming the opposition out of vengeance instead of taking steps to curb the militancy,” Khaleda Zia said in a statement floated for media this afternoon.
The former prime minister came up with the statement condemning the government for yesterday’s murder of police superintendent Babul Akter’s wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu and Natore Christian trader Shunil Gomez.
Demanding immediate arrest of the people behind the two attacks, she said the countrymen are passing through insecurity as the government is spreading out falsehood without bringing the real perpetrators to book for trial, she said.
Militants are committing crimes like murder in broad daylight without any fear while the government is keeping mum, Khaleda Zia said.
Taking the opportunity, the militant forces are increasing their organisational strength, she said.
Khaleda Zia alleged that the Awami League, like the militant organisations, cannot accept opponents and differing opinions.
“If we fail to get rid of this situation, our national existence will be destroyed,” Khaleda said.
