BSMMU submits report on Khaleda’s treatment to SC
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) today sent a report on the medical treatment of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to the Supreme Court registrar general's office, to be placed at the High Court.
An official of the institution brought over the report this noon, Md Saifur Rahman, SC special officer, told The Daily Star.
The report will be produced before the HC tomorrow morning, he added.
On Sunday, the HC bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice AKM Zahirul Huq sought information about the medical condition of Khaleda Zia, who is now in the prison cell of BSMMU.
The court also asked the BSMMU vice-chancellor to mention in the report whether Khaleda consented to "advance" her treatment.
The BNP chief landed in jail after being sentenced to five years' imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case by the same court on February 8, 2018.
On October 30, 2018, the HC enhanced her punishment to 10 years in the case after dismissing her appeal.
