BNP to hold rally tomorrow for Khaleda's release
BNP will stage a rally in Dhaka tomorrow to press home the party’s demands for immediate release of its Chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail and her better treatment.
“We have been given permission verbally from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to hold the rally. Written permission will be given immediately,” BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed told The Daily Star.
As per schedule, the rally will be held in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office in the capital around 3:00pm, the party’s spokesperson said.
BNP got the go-ahead when Abul Khair Bhuiyan, adviser to Khaleda Zia, met the DMP commissioner at his office, Rizvi said.
Besides, leaders and activists of the party’s different fronts and associate bodies will also stage similar programmes at all the cities, district towns and upazila level headquarters across the country tomorrow pressing the same demands.
Earlier on July 15, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced that his party will stage demonstration across the country including the capital Dhaka on Friday demanding release of its Chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail and her better treatment.
