Khaleda Zia seriously ill: Rizvi
BNP today alleged that though its chairperson Khaleda Zia is seriously ill in jail, she has so far not given any treatment.
"Our chairperson who is also a three-time Prime Minister of the country, is critically ill in jail but she's not getting any treatment," said Rizvi.
He came up with the remarks in a press briefing at the party's central office at Nayapaltan.
Rizvi demanded the immediate release of Khaleda from jail so that she can receive treatment for her ailment as per her wish.
He said the medical board formed by the government suggested physiotherapy for Khaleda after doing some simple tests like X-ray and blood test.
"Our chairperson has long been suffering from Arthritisand eye problems. Some other problems also have developed in her body as she has been kept in jail in an unhealthy atmosphere," the BNP leader said.
Referring to the medical board report that claimed Khaleda has problem in her neck and waist, Rizvi said the BNP chief needs to undergo some important tests like magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to identify her diseases. "It's not possible to identify her specific physical problems only by x-ray and blood tests.
He alleged that though their chairperson's personal physicians were allowed to stay at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) while her medical tests carried out, they were not allowed to provide any treatment.
The BNP leader alleged that the government sent Khaleda in jail by convicting her in a planned way only to eliminate her gradually. "That's why she's not given scope for treatment now."
He also alleged that the government was restricting her relatives to meet her in jail. He urged the government to ensure proper treatment for Khaleda shunning its plot against her.
