Khaleda being deprived of ‘legal right’: Fakhrul
BNP today alleged that its Chairperson Khaleda Zia is being deprived of her “legal right” as she has been denied of bail through various tactics.
“Our leader Khaleda Zia has been kept in jail in a totally false case. She is not being given bail depriving her of her constitutionally recognised legal right” Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, secretary general of the party, said.
Addressing a human chain programme organised by BNP in front of the National Press Club demanding Khaleda Zia’s release from jail, the BNP leader alleged that the government is resorting various ploys to prolong her (Khaleda) stay in jail.
The BNP leader called upon all political parties to get united to save the country and restore its destroyed democracy.
Referring to the attack on Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, the BNP leader blamed the government for hatching a plot to turn the country into a failed and militant state.
“As part of the plot, the country’s popular writer Zafar Iqbal was stabbed on broad daylight in Sylhet,” he accused.
Fakhrul also blasted the ruling quarter as his party has been made accused of the incident without any investigation.
“But those, who are arrested in this connection all belong to Awami League,” the BNP leader claimed.
