50,000 BNP men in jail now: Khaleda
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today said many leaders and activists of her party were victims of “enforced disappearances, abductions and secret killings” after the Awami League came to power.
“Around 50 thousand leaders and activists of the opposition are now in jail and thousands other are passing measurable days after being implicated in false cases,” Khaleda today said in a statement floated on the occasion of the UN announced Anti-Repression Day to be observed tomorrow.
The former premier stated that her party had enforced a tough movement, demanding immediate general election under a nonparty caretaker government. “But the ruling party has daunted the movement in a fascist style.”
The government has snatched away people’s voting rights and established authoritarian rule in the country, she added.
