Police recover bodies of mother, 3 children in Gazipur
Police today recovered the bodies of a mother and her three children from Sreepur upazila of Gazipur.
The deceased were identified as Fatema Begum (40), her daughter Nura (16), Irin (11), and son Fadil (7), our Gazipur correspondent reports quoting Liakat Ali, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sreepur Police Station.
Fatema's husband and the father of the children, Kazal Mia, is a Malaysian expatriate who is currently residing there.
On information, police went to Abdar area of Sreepur upazila this afternoon and recovered the four bodies from the floor of the house along with a sharp weapon, the OC said.
Police suspect that a number of people were active behind the incident, the OC said, without sharing further details in this regard.
Kazal's brother Md Arif said after getting married to Fatema, a Malaysian citizen, his brother returned home 20 years ago.
Kazal and Fatema then purchased a piece of land in the village, constructed a house and started living there with their daughters and son, Arif said.
Arif said he knocked at the door of the house around 10:30am but did not get any response from inside the house.
Later, he again knocked at the door around 2pm. As nobody answered, he forcibly entered the house, found the four bodies lying on the floor and informed the police, he said.
