ACC to probe illegal investment in Malaysia
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is going to take assistance from the Malaysian government for a joint investigation into illegal investment by Bangladeshis in the name of second home there.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed in this regard by June, said ACC Commissioner (Investigation) Md Shahabuddin today, reports the daily Prothom Alo.
Addressing a view-exchange meeting with the owners and chief executives of different electronic media, the commissioner also said, "All who have taken Malaysia as second home are high profiled. We have some information in this regard. It will be easier for us to work once the MoU is signed."
Sources at the ACC said the commission has started the investigation last year. A three-member team, led by ACC Deputy Director Mohammad Morshed Alam, is conducting the investigation.
