A Bangladeshi man living in Bahrain has won the top prize in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw, Gulf News reported.
AK Monirul Islam, 52, based in Manama, won $1 million in Millennium Millionaire series 539 with ticket number 4257, purchased online on March 18.
Monirul, who has lived in Bahrain for the past decade, works as an office clerk at the Bangladesh embassy. The father of three had tried his fortune in the Dubai Duty Free promotion in the earlier two editions.
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much Dubai Duty Free. Now, I can build my own house for my family in Bangladesh,” he said.
He is the third Bangladeshi national to win the $1 million prize since the promotion began in 1999.
Meanwhile, Pakistani national Raja Ilyas, 43, a first-time participant from Sialkot, won an Aprilia RSV4 1100 motorbike in the Finest Surprise series 661.
The draw was held at the Dubai Duty Free head office in Ramool in the presence of senior executives, including managing director Ramesh Cidambi and other top officials.
