Nasiruddin Patwary’s motorcade attacked in Benapole
A vehicle carrying National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary came under attack in Benapole today as he was returning from a border area where alleged push-in attempts by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) had recently been reported.
Khalid Saifullah Jewel, a member of the NCP central committee, said unidentified people hurled bricks at Patwary’s motorcade near the Benapole Checkpost intersection.
Patwary had earlier visited the Sadipur border area to inspect alleged attempted push-ins into Bangladesh. While the convoy was returning, a group reportedly attacked the motorcade near the checkpost area.
In a Facebook post from his verified account, Patwary said the delegation had visited the border area, spoken with locals, and gathered on-the-spot information about the situation.
He further wrote that “on our way back, our vehicle came under attack, and four people were injured,” adding that the group remained safe overall.
He also said, “Our position remains unwavering when it comes to protecting human dignity at the border, citizens' rights, and the sovereignty of Bangladesh.”
Condemning the attack, Jewel said party leaders and activists quickly escorted Patwary to Jashore from where he later left for Dhaka.
When contacted, Officer-in-Charge Md Ashraful Hossain of Benapole Port Police Station said police had not been informed about any attack on the vehicle carrying Patwary.
