Filmmaker Raihan Rafi receives Inspiring Ten honour
Popular Bangladeshi filmmaker Raihan Rafi has been awarded the Starship Inspiring Ten 2025 honour in recognition of his contribution to the cultural sector. The awards were presented at a grand ceremony held recently at the ballroom of Hotel Sheraton in Banani, Dhaka.
The Starship Inspiring Ten accolade is given to ten young individuals every year for their notable contributions across different sectors of society and the nation. At the event, each awardee received a gold medal, a citation and a cheque worth Tk 200,000.
Raihan Rafi was honoured in the Film Direction category. The award was presented to him by Rubaba Dowla, country managing director of Oracle.
Speaking after receiving the honour, Rafi said it was a moment of immense pride to be recognised alongside other inspiring personalities. “This award celebrates ten young individuals who are contributing to society and the country in different ways. Sharing the same platform with people like Munzereen Shahid, footballer Rituparna Chakma, electric vehicle Palki entrepreneur Mostafa Al Momin, and social initiative Team Byartho founder Murshidul Alam Bhuiyan is truly an honour for me,” he said.
Raihan Rafi is currently one of the most popular and busy young filmmakers in the country. He began his film journey with “Poramon 2” and has since delivered a string of commercially successful and widely discussed projects. So far, he has directed seven feature films and nearly a dozen films and content projects for OTT platforms.
His most recent theatrical release, “Taandob”, sparked significant discussion among audiences, while his OTT project “Omimangshito” also gained attention. Recently, Rafi wrapped up shooting for a new film titled “Andhar” and is now busy working on the women-centric film “Pressure Cooker”.
