Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has rescued more than 600 people, including 116 tourists, from flood-hit areas of Bandarban as heavy rain, flash floods and landslides continue to affect parts of the country.

According to a press release issued today, rescued individuals, belonging to 122 families, were taken to safe shelters where they were provided with food. Additionally, 48 people received emergency medical treatment.

BGB has been deployed in 11 districts -- Bandarban, Cox’s Bazar, Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Chattogram, Feni, Sylhet, Habiganj, Sunamganj, Netrokona and Jamalpur -- to conduct rescue operations, distribute relief and medical assistance, restore damaged communication networks, and protect vulnerable infrastructure.

BGB is monitoring the flood situation round the clock at 90 points across these districts, providing immediate rescue and humanitarian assistance where necessary.

In Bandarban, BGB personnel cleared uprooted trees and debris to restore communication on the Bandarban-Ruma road. In Naikhyangchhari, emergency measures were taken to protect a vulnerable steel bridge from soil erosion to ensure safe movement of locals.

BGB said its rescue, relief, medical and humanitarian operations will continue until the situation normalises.
