10 rescued from Meghna river after trawler capsize
Bangladesh Coast Guard members have rescued 10 workers after a brick-laden trawler capsized in the Meghna river in Munshiganj today.
The rescued people are Mannan, 32, Harun, 27, Alamgir, 23, Ismail, 30, Nurul Haque, 28, Moin Uddin, 36, Abu Bakar, 26, Hatem, 22, Amanul, 25, and Mohiuddin, 28.
The Gazaria-bound trawler from Jajira of Keraniganj sank on the Meghna estuary around 9:25am due to overloading, coast guard officials said.
On information, a team of coast guards from CG Station (Dhaka Zone) launched an operation and rescued the 10 workers of the trawler, the officials said.
The sunken trawler could not be salvaged till last reported around 4:30pm.
