An elderly person died today after a sacrificial bull for Eid-ul-Azha charged at him on a street in Old Dhaka.

The victim, Abu Taher Mia, 70, a resident of the capital’s Jurain area, was walking down the street in Faridabad area of Old Dhaka when a bull charged at him and injured him with its horns, reports our staff correspondent.

He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 2:00pm where the doctors pronounced him dead, said Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) Babul Mia of DMCH Police Outpost.

Later, Salma Begum, daughter of the victim, identified the body.

She said that her father went to beg for alms today when the incident happened.
