Illegally imported medicine seized at Dhaka airport
Customs intelligence have claimed haul of restricted and illegally imported foreign medicine from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
The medicine, worth Tk 1.6 crore, was found in a hajj flight that came in from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia around 5:00pm yesterday, Dr Shahidul Islam, director general of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) said.
The cartons were left unclaimed after all the Hajj pilgrims took their luggage from the conveyor belt. The cartons were then frisked and the medicine found.
The seized medicine are: Albumin injections, Lantus Solostar, Neoral 100mg, Levemir 100 ml, Anxate Flumazel, Rhophylac 300mg, Victroza 6mg, Euthrox 50mg, Cipralex 10mg, Lepra Levetiractam 500mg, Mimpara 30mg, Novorapid 100µml, Cellcept 500mg, One Alpha 25mg, and Salazopyrin 500ml.
Legal actions are being taken under the Customs Act in this regard.
