BRTA publishes new bus fare chart
Bangladesh Road Transport Authority has published a new fare chart for buses and minibuses operating on inter-district and long-distance routes.
The government on Thursday increased bus fares by 11 paisa per kilometre for all types of buses due to a rise in diesel prices. The revised fares came into effect the same day.
The updated fare list was published on the BRTA website Saturday.
According to the new chart, separate fare lists have been prepared for each route, covering both city and long-distance services.
For city buses in Dhaka, the minimum fare has been set at Tk 10.
On the Dhaka (Sayedabad)-Chattogram route, fare for a 51-seat bus has been fixed at Tk 704, while a 40-seat bus will charge Tk 552.
On the Dhaka (Sayedabad)-Cox’s Bazar route, fare has been set at Tk 900 for a 51-seat bus and Tk 1,147 for a 40-seater bus.
On the Dhaka (Gabtoli)-Panchagarh route, fare was set at Tk 1,005 for a 51-seat bus and Tk 1,281 for a 40-seater.
On the Dhaka (Gabtoli)-Rangpur route, fare has been set at Tk 751 for a 51-seat bus and Tk 911 for a 40-seat bus.
On the Dhaka (Gabtoli)-Dinajpur route, fares are Tk 974 for a 51-seat bus and Tk 1,241 for a 40-seater.
On the Dhaka (Mohakhali)-Mymensingh route, fare has been fixed at Tk 294 for a 51-seat bus and Tk 375 for a 40-seat bus.
On the Dhaka (Mohakhali)-Jamalpur route, fares stand at Tk 386 for a 51-seat bus and Tk 492 for a 40-seat bus.
On the Dhaka (Mohakhali)-Kishoreganj route, fare has been set at Tk 401 for a 51-seat bus and Tk 511 for a 40-seat bus.
Earlier, following the government’s decision to revise fuel prices on April 18, a gazette issued on April 23 adjusted transport fares accordingly.
In Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan areas, the fare per km for 52-seat buses was increased from Tk 2.42 to Tk 2.53.
For inter-district services, fare rose from Tk 2.12 to Tk 2.23 per km, while in the DTCA area, minibus fare was increased from Tk 2.32 to Tk 2.43 per km.
The government does not regulate fares for air-conditioned (AC) buses. As a result, fares for such services are determined by transport operators and competition on specific routes.
