NCP planning to field Asif Mahmud, Adeeb for Dhaka city polls

National Citizen Party (NCP) is primarily planning to field spokesperson Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain and Senior Joint Convener Ariful Islam Adeeb as mayoral candidates for the upcoming Dhaka North and South city corporation elections.

Confirming the matter to The Daily Star this evening, Adeeb said party leaders initially discussed him and Asif Mahmud as the next mayoral candidates for Dhaka city polls and he expressed interest to party decision-makers to contest in Dhaka North.

"I have experience in this area during the national election… Although this has not been officially confirmed yet.

“Discussions are still ongoing within the party. An official announcement will be made later,” he added.
