Nine killed in road crashes in 4 districts

At least nine people were killed in road accidents in Bagerhat, Sunamganj, Thakurgaon and Panchagarh in last two days.

In Bagerhat, three men were killed after a motorcycle collided with a truck on the Khulna-Mongla highway yesterday, said OC Jafar Ahmed of Katakhali Highway Police Station.

Police identified one of the deceased as Abdul Kader.

In Sunamganj’s Shantiganj upazila, two people were killed and five injured after a bus collided with a human haulier yesterday. The deceased are Ibrahim Miah, 25, the human haulier driver, and Jahed Miah, 18.

In Thakurgaon, two young men were killed after their motorcycle hit a road divider on the Thakurgaon town-Railway Station Road in Munshirhat yesterday.

In Panchagarh upazila, a six-year-old girl was killed after a sand-laden truck hit her while she was crossing the Boda-Debiganj highway in the Sonapata-Pachkol area on Tuesday evening.

The victim, Papri Rani Roy, died at the scene, said police.

In Tetulia, a tractor overturned in Dharagach village, leaving a worker dead. The deceased, Anwar Hossain, 21, was trapped underneath the vehicle, said police.
