30 homes gutted in Turag slum fire

Around 30 homes were gutted in a fire that broke out at a slum known as “Oli Matborer Bosti” in Dhaka’s Turag area on Thursday evening.

“We were informed of the blaze at around 6:26pm,” said Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector (media cell) of Fire Service and Civil Defence.

“Five units brought the fire under control by 7:13pm, and it was fully doused by 8:10pm,” he said.

Anwarul added that no casualties were reported, though around 30 homes were gutted in the fire.

The fire is believed to have originated from an electrical fault, he added.
