A beautiful staircase in an Old Dhaka mosque

Khan Muhammad Mirdha Mosque is more than 300 years old! A few minutes away from Lalbagh Fort, it is an underrated spot that deserves much more attention.
It is a quintessential Mughalera mosque in our city, being of a three-domed structure, and having many other defining elements of those times.
One striking feature is the stairway. The main structure – the three-domed building – sits on a raised platform, which can be accessed by a flight of stairs. And this staircase is very elegant – as you can see in the picture – finishing off at the top with a small and simple, yet graceful, gateway.
Although there are several Mughal era mosques in Dhaka, arguably none has the charm of this stairway!
The mosque is definitely worth a visit for its overallsplendour and beauty.
