BNP gives list of 21 arrested activists to EC
BNP yesterday submitted a list of its 21 arrested leaders and activists to the Election Commission.
The party's Lawsuits and Information Record Officer Md Salahudddin Khan submitted the list.
The EC on Thursday held a meeting with law enforcers where it instructed them not to file any case to harass anyone and arrest anyone without warrant.
“Despite the EC's instruction, 21 BNP leaders and activists have been arrested in barely two days,” said Salahuddin.
Earlier, BNP submitted another list of 1,047 arrested party men to the EC.
Meanwhile, the party yesterday submitted another letter to the EC criticising the commission for its “silence” and “inaction” over the death of the party's nomination seeker from Jashore-6 constituency Abu Bakar Abu.
In the letter, signed by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the party alleged, “The Election Commission was notified three times after Abu went missing but the commission did not instruct law enforcers to rescue him alive.”
