13 die in 3 Khulna hospitals' Covid units in 24 hours
Thirteen patients died while being treated at the Covid units of three Khulna hospitals in the last 24 hours till 8am today.
The three hospitals are Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), Gazi Medical College Hospital and Khulna General Hospital.
Dr Suhas Ranjan Halder, resident medical officer and spokesperson of the Covid unit at KMCH, said that two patients at the unit died in 24 hours till this morning. Both were Covid-19 positive.
Till 8am, 201 people were admitted to the unit, and of them 113 are undergoing treatment in red zone, 48 in yellow zone, 20 are in high-dependency unit (HDU) and 20 are at intensive care unit (ICU).
Gazi Medical College Hospital owner Gazi Mizanur Rahman said, eight patients died while undergoing treatment at the hospital's Covid unit during 24 hours till 8am. They were all Covid-19 positive.
Besides, 85 patients were receiving treatment during this time at the hospital's Covid unit. Of them, five were in ICU and 10 in HDU, he added.
On the other hand, three Covid-19 patients died while being treated at the Covid unit of Khulna General Hospital, said the unit's spokesperson Dr Kazi Abu Rashed. Sixty-five were taking treatment at the unit till this morning, he added.
Khulna Medical College Principal Dr Mehedi Newaz said, last night 567 people were tested for coronavirus infection and 265 of them were found positive.
Of the 265 infected, 239 are from Khulna, 13 from Bagerhat, six from Jashore, three from Satkhira, one from Narail, two from Gopalganj and one is from Pirojpur.
The current positivity rate stood at 49.58 percent, said Dr Mehedi Newaz.
