The boy next door, Yash Rohan, has captivated the audience with his charming personality and sweet smile since his debut in the film "Swapnajaal". Slowly, he came out of his comfort zone and delivered a brilliant performance in versatile characters. Recently, his character in the web series "Kuhelika" caught the attention of the audience. His film "Adam," opposite actress Jannatul Ferdous Oishee, is awaiting its release during the upcoming Eid.

In a candid conversation with The Daily Star, Yash shared thoughts about his latest projects and more.

Your web series 'Kuhelika' was released recently on Binge. How was the response?

The response was actually very good. We have been waiting for its release because we shot the series a long time ago. I was quite excited about the release, especially because I played a different character in "Kuhelika". I was waiting for feedback from the audience. I am very happy with the response I have gotten.

You have never played such an aggressive character before. How was the experience of executing the character?

It was fantastic. As an actor, it's a blessing to play different kinds of characters where you can challenge yourself. I am so lucky that I got such an interesting character that I have never played before. I really enjoyed the whole process of executing Arif in "Kuhelika."

It was challenging for me to portray the character because I am not used to that type of aggression on screen. I had to practice bringing out the anger and desperation in myself during the shooting.

You were seen as three different types of characters in your latest three projects, 'Buker Moddhe Agun', 'Kuhelika' and 'Adam'. Are you experimenting with your characters?

For a long time, I wanted to play different characters in my career, because I felt like I was being typecast. It was not planned to do three different characters this year. It happened coincidentally, as all the projects were shot at different times. However, I am lucky that I could land these three characters because I was also thinking about experimenting with versatile roles.

Tell us about your recent film, 'Adam'.

Adam portrays the harsh reality of rural life back in the 1980s. It's a story of two brothers and how they survive through all the adversaries. This was a different story and character for me, which is why I joined the cast.

Yash Rohan breaks out of his mold

As this is an off-track film releasing this Eid, how hopeful are you?

I don't want to think about this right now because I think the success or failure of any film is quite unpredictable. You don't know which film will be a hit at a particular time. When "Poran" was released, we didn't think it would be such a blockbuster. So, I want to wait until "Adam" is released and then decide how it did at the box office.

How was your experience working with Oishee for the first time in 'Adam'?

She was really good and sincere in her work. I think she is very focused when she shoots for a film. I didn't have that focus when I was her age. I think this is her biggest strength, which will help her in the future.
