Touqir Islam to make big screen debut with ‘Delupi’
After gaining widespread acclaim on OTT platforms for his original series "Shaaticup" and "Sinpaat", filmmaker Mohammad Touqir Islam is set to make his full-length feature film debut with "Delupi".
With "Delupi", Touqir ventures into cinema with a story rooted in 'fictional reality,' inspired by the lives, struggles, and relationships of people in Deluti Union, Paikgacha Upazila, Khulna.
Touqir explained that while the film takes inspiration from a specific region, it reflects experiences of people from all walks of life, making it universally relatable. From its cast to filming locations, the production is deeply local, with the story itself serving as the film's strongest element.
"I have always wanted to tell stories about real people," Touqir said. " 'Delupi' is a continuation of that effort. Every character and every frame in this film reflects real lives and emotions. For me, conveying genuine feelings mattered far more than big budgets or star names."
The film is produced by Footprint Film Production House, which officially announced "Delupi", its first full-length feature, through its social media pages on Thursday, October 9. According to the director, the film is expected to be released in cinemas soon.
