Hollywood icon Tom Cruise is poised to be honoured with the prestigious BFI Fellowship, the most distinguished recognition awarded by the British Film Institute.

Renowned globally for his performances in blockbuster hits including the "Mission: Impossible" series and "Top Gun", Cruise is being celebrated for his exceptional impact on the world of cinema and television.

At 62, the veteran actor will receive the honour during the BFI Chair's Dinner, scheduled to take place on May 12 in London.

The event will be hosted by BFI Chair Jay Hunt, as confirmed in an official announcement.

Just a day before the ceremony, Tom Cruise will engage in an exclusive "In Conversation" event at BFI Southbank, where he will reflect on his illustrious career and delve into his journey with the "Mission: Impossible" franchise.

Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Cruise shared his appreciation for the honour. "For more than four decades, I've had the privilege of making films in the UK, and I have every intention of continuing that journey," he remarked.

"The country boasts exceptional talent—be it actors, filmmakers, or crew—and some of the most breathtaking filming locations. I deeply value the BFI's continued dedication to championing British cinema and the art of filmmaking," the actor added.

BFI Chair Jay Hunt expressed excitement over the upcoming tribute, stating, "We are absolutely delighted to present Tom Cruise with the BFI Fellowship. His commitment to producing films in the UK has significantly contributed to our industry, and he's consistently embraced our production talent, working alongside British crews to bring his ambitious cinematic visions to life."

Hunt further praised Cruise's dynamic screen presence, adding, "He's undeniably one of the greatest actors of our time—a global superstar who has captivated audiences with both high-octane roles and bold, unconventional performances that showcase his remarkable range."

Up next for Cruise is "Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning", the much-anticipated eighth chapter in the legendary action saga.

The film is set to hit theatres worldwide on May 23.
