‘The Office’ follow-up series brings back Oscar Nuñez

Oscar Nuñez, best known for portraying the accountant Oscar Martinez in "The Office", is set to reprise his role in the upcoming Peacock series. Similar to its predecessor, this new show follows a mockumentary format, where the documentary team that chronicled life at Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch for years now shifts its focus to a historic but struggling Midwestern newspaper and its employees.

When "The Office" ended in 2013, Oscar Martinez was running for a state Senate seat in Pennsylvania while maintaining his job at Dunder Mifflin. Though specific details about how his character fits into the new series remain under wraps, Nuñez has been involved in the project from the start.
His return was first reported by The InSneider newsletter. Greg Daniels, the creator of "The Office" and the upcoming series (along with Michael Koman for the Peacock show), has previously stated that Oscar was one of the characters he wished to explore further.

The show, which might be titled "The Paper", features a star-studded cast that includes Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key.
Guest appearances will include Duane Shepard Sr, Allan Havey, Nate Jackson, Mo Welch, Nancy Lenehan, Molly Ephraim, and Tracy Letts. Ikumelo, Edelman, Rahill, and Welch are also contributing as writers for the series.

In addition to Daniels and Koman ("Nathan for You"), the series is executive produced by "The Office" creators Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, along with Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas. Universal Television is the studio behind the project.
