Originally a musician, Arafat Mohsin Nidhi has expanded his artistry into various fields, including direction and ad films. His contributions to music for films, in particular, have earned him a reputation as a multi-talented creative energy.

For this Eid-ul-Fitr, Nidhi has worked on two highly anticipated Eid films— "Borbaad" and "Daagi". He composed the background score (BGM) for the Shakib Khan and Idhika Paul starrer and Mehedi Hassan Hridoy directorial "Borbaad", while also crafting the title track and trailer music for "Daagi", directed by Shihab Shaheen.

Nidhi notably worked alongside popular actor Afran Nisho, for "Daagi's" title track as it marks Nisho's debut as a singer for a film. Nidhi also lent his voice to the song.

"I am very excited about both of these films because I was closely involved with them. However, 'Borbaad' is particularly close to my heart because I did the entire background score, including a rap song featuring rapper Saif Khan. It was a challenge but a very rewarding one."

When asked about which film he would watch first, Nidhi revealed that although he was deeply involved in "Borbaad", he won't rush to watch it on the first day. "I will watch 'Borbaad' first, but not on the first day, first show," he said. "I've already watched the film many times, so I want to watch it a week after its release with my friends and family. That way, I can experience it differently, away from the intense focus of my work."

Nidhi also shared his enthusiasm for the other Eid films, saying, "I'll be watching 'Daagi', 'Jongli', 'Chokkor 302', and any other films that are releasing this Eid season. There's a lot of talent out there, and I'm excited to see what everyone has created."

Having worked on two of the most hyped films of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, Nidhi emphasised the stark differences between "Borbaad" and "Daagi", despite both being rooted in strong narratives. "With 'Borbaad', I already knew what to expect because I did the score for the entire film," he explained. "It's a very action-packed film containing violence, but it's also deeply story-driven, which I really appreciate."

On the other hand, "Daagi" posed a unique challenge for Nidhi. "For 'Daagi', I had to understand the entire storyline to create the right music for the title track," he said. "It's a completely different story, yet both films are very engaging. The sound is where the biggest contrast lies. 'Borbaad' is heavy, intense, and noisy, whereas the title track for 'Daagi' is energetic and upbeat. The time constraints made it challenging to make Afran Nisho do the rap song and make the track for 'Daagi'. Moreover, I knew that Nisho bhai can sing, so that helped as well."

Nidhi's journey in the entertainment industry began as a composer and music producer. His first film project was Redoan Rony's "Ice Cream", and he continued to make his mark with other film scores, including his work on "DamaaI", "Surongo", and "Toofan".

However, his talents extend beyond music. In 2011, he ventured into direction with "Jonakpoka", an Eid special telefilm. His directorial short film "Everything Is Nothing" was also selected at the 10th Goa Short Film Festival in 2023.

"I've always had an interest in storytelling," he shared. "Music was just the starting point for me. Directing allows me to express a different side of my creativity."

Nidhi's latest directorial project is for Chorki, where he directed "Khub Kachheri Keu", a 40-minute drama featuring Sunerah Binte Kamal and FS Nayeem. Written by Raba Khan, the drama marks Nidhi's debut in the OTT space.  "It is expected to be announced after Eid," he shared.

The artiste is already preparing for more projects ahead, with plans for Eid-ul-Azha announcements in the pipeline.
