Shooting underway for ‘Taandob’; producer addresses casting rumours

The next Raihan Rafi directorial "Taandob" filming schedule has officially commenced this week at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC). As per reports, actors Shakib Khan and Jaya Ahsan have already joined the production.
Amid the ongoing shoot, headlining reports also suggested that television actress Sabila Nur would be starring opposite Shakib Khan in the film. When contacted, the film's co-producer Shahriar Shakil addressed the speculation.
"I'm hearing Sabila's name from you," Shakil told Prothom Alo. "I've seen some news claiming she's part of our film. There's always interest around our casting choices. Often, people assume or declare a heroine on our behalf. That's what's happening now. As of now, we have no confirmation of Sabila being cast opposite Shakib."
Shakib Khan plays the lead in "Taandob", with Jaya Ahsan reportedly taking on a significant role. The identity of the film's second female lead remains unconfirmed.
When asked whether Sabila Nur is acting in the film, Shahriar Shakil responded, "We haven't finalised the casting for the second female lead yet. We've initially listed five to six potential names, and Sabila's inclusion in that list is not unusual—she's a talented artiste."
"However, nothing has been confirmed. We haven't had any final discussions with anyone. The actress who best fits the character and story will be selected. Since the shoot for that role is scheduled after Eid, we will make the final announcement then," he added.
Shakib Khan and Jaya Ahsan were last seen together in "Purno Doirgho Prem Kahini". After a long hiatus, the duo is returning with "Taandob", which is slated for release during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. The shooting will proceed accordingly.
According to production sources, filming will continue through April, with only a four-day break during Eid. The producer shared that the film's plot revolves around a television station, gradually unfolding into a different world for the viewers.
Shakil dismissed the ongoing rumours, saying, "A lot of what's being written is entirely speculative. There is no sequence in 'Taandob' involving an attack on a television station. And Afran Nisho is not part of the cast either."
However, several trusted sources have indicated that Sabila Nur and Sariful Razz have been finalised for the film. Both artistes have refrained from commenting on the matter.
In the meantime, two Shakib Khan-starrers—"Antaratma" and "Borbaad"—are awaiting release this Eid-ul-Fitr, with Darshana Banik and Idhika Paul appearing as the female leads, respectively.
