Shah Rukh, Deepika: An on-screen duo for the ages

Only recently, viewers saw the release of the trailer for Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming movie, "Pathaan". Since the trailers release, many Bollywood fans are excited at the prospect of what the film will have in store, particularly because it casts Deepika Padukone opposite SRK.

The beautiful shots of the duo in the trailer have been received with immense love and craze from the fans. It's incredible to think, that while the two have only done a few projects together, their first collaboration was back in 2007. Even still, it's amazing to see just how great their on-screen chemistry was, particularly in Deepika's Bollywood debut, "Om Shanti Om".

With all of this in mind, and to prepare ourselves for the eventual release of "Pathaan" in January, we have prepared a list of some of Deepika and Shah Rukh's most memorable moments on the silver screen.

Ankhon Mein Teri
First meetings, are sometimes the most precious. Just think about meeting your crush for the first time, how it leaves you awestruck and filled with butterflies. The epitome of this feeling is when Shah Rukh and Deepika shared their first scene in "Om Shanti Om". Playing the star actress Shanti Priya, Deepika meets Shah Rukh's character—who is a superfan of Shanti Priya—at an event. The iconic background score, "Ankhon Mein Teri" truly makes the scene memorable, as we, the viewers, even fall in love with Deepika in the moment. Even after 15 years, this moment brings a smile to anyone who has watched the film already.

A tribute to DDLJ
Rohit Shetty films bring extravaganza and spice like no other. "Chennai Express" takes it a step further, recreating the iconic "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" moment, where Shah Rukh helps Kajal board the train. However, this time, it's Deepika. The flowy ghagra she wears, the flowers in her hair, her bindi adorned forehead, all set in the Indian railway stations helps create a beautiful parallel with the original moment from DDLJ. Soon after the shot, Deepika would say, "Finally got my DDLJ moment with Shah Rukh Khan".

Deepika's dream
"Chennai Express" is known for its many iconic moments, where the audience cannot help but breakout into laughter. One particular scene, where Deepika's character Meena has a dream and ends up talking in her sleep still randomly plays in my mind, even today. The comic sequence that follows, along with Shah Rukh getting kicked, is enough to brighten up even the gloomiest of days.

Shanti Priya says goodbye
The scene where the spirit of Shanti Priya gratefully meets Shah Rukh's character for the last time, in "Om Shanti Om", depicts the transcendence of love beyond the measure of time. However, this scene is alive in our imagination for an entirely different reason. The teary-eyed actors bidding farewell is still one of the most heart-wrenching scenes in Bollywood's history.

Love Mera Hit Hit
This song is a testament to the sizzling chemistry between Deepika and Shah Rukh. "Love Mera Hit Hit" was played on almost all the music channels back in 2011, and has remained a fun memory for many. The music, along with the dance routines set the ambience for the party song that challenges any hit song to come out of Bollywood, even today.
