Parambrata’s ‘Shabash Faluda’ hit with backlash
Satyajit Ray's "Feluda" is a timeless classic, which many filmmakers have adapted into their productions. Over the years, the main lead has been played by many prominent actors including Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Shashi Kapoor, Abir Chatterjee, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Indraneil Sengupta and Ahmed Rubel, among others.
This time, Parambrata Chattopadhyay donned the role of iconic detective Feluda in the Zee5 original web-series, "Shabash Feluda". However, the new "Feluda" adaptation seems to have failed to meet the audience's expectations, instead it suffered a backlash.
In a recent interview with the media, Parambrata shared his thoughts on the matter. He shared, "The audience were completely polarised into two halves. On one hand, there was a lot of appreciation. On the other hand, there was a lot of backlash as well. And we were completely prepared – 'Feluda' is one of those rare icons or heroes that Bengalis have got ever since independence. They identify a lot with him, they want to see themselves succeeding through 'Feluda'. The backlash that happened actually made the series very popular in the sense that people started watching it in huge numbers, which was great. A lot of them really said very, very bad things about it. A lot of them said great things about it. But the fact was, there was incredible amount of engagement. And that's all that we wanted."
The ten-episode long web-series, "Shabash Feluda" was directed by Arindam Sil. It also starred Sauraseni Maitra, Ritwick Chakraborty, Rudranil Ghosh and Topher Collins, among others.
