‘Omar Faruk er Ma’ to screen on the eve of Mother’s Day
Liberation War-based short film Zahidur Rahman directorial "Omar Faruk er Ma" is a heart-wrenching tribute to the sacrifice and resilience of a mother, who has been waiting for her son's return for the past 46 years.
To pay tribute on Mother's Day, a special screening of the short film is set to take place today at 5 pm at the Bangladesh Film Archive Projection Hall, one day before the occasion.
The event will also feature a discussion with renowned personalities, including Ekushey medalist and freedom fighter Jewel Aich, Additional IGP Habibur Rahman, and other notable individuals. Through this event, the film "Omar Faruk er Maa" will be handed over for preservation in the film archive.
The short film portrays the story of Omar Faruq, a brave freedom fighter who left home to join the liberation war at 21 and promised his mother that he would return home after the war. However, he was captured and martyred by Pakistani forces, leaving his mother waiting for him to come home for the past 46 years.
The film stars Dilara Zaman as Omar Faruk's mother, while Sayed Babu portrays the character of Omar Faruk.
The film also stars Khairul Alam Sabuj, Sayed Babu, Naznin Hasan Chumki, and Bonna Mirza among others.
