Nazrul’s 47th death anniversary: Television channels honour the National Poet
National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, a name that every Bangladeshi knows by heart, is counted amongst the pioneers of Bangla literature. Be it novels, songs or poems, his contribution in Bengali literature have long since reached unprecedented heights. His timeless works still rekindle the Bengali spirit even now.
Today marks the 47th death anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam who is revered as the rebel poet. On this day, several television channels have arranged quite a few special programmes in his honour.
Remembering Nazrul today, Bangladesh Television will be airing various special cultural programmes highlighting Nazrul's poem recitals and song performances. At 5:35 pm, a special programme featuring Nazrul Sangeet will be aired on BTV.
Meanwhile, the audiences will get to enjoy another special programme highlighting Nazrul's poem recitals at 2:30 pm and 6:20 pm.
At 8:40 pm, a special show, "Mujib Chetonaye Nazrul" will air on BTV. Additionally, another show featuring Nazrul's poems, songs and discussions on the poet's life will also be telecasted at 10:20 pm.
Honouring the rebel poet, Maasranga TV will be premiering a tele-film titled "Agnigiri" which is based on the poet's work, at 10:30 pm.
Meanwhile, NTV will be telecasting a special tele-film, titled "Dhumketu" which is based on one of Nazrul's songs. The tele-film will be aired on NTV at 1 pm.
Additionally, the channel will also be airing another tele-film based on Nazrul's works, "Ragini" at 9:30 pm.
Similarly, Channel i will be airing the famed talk show "Tritiyo Matra" at 9:30 am. The channel will also telecast a special programme "Shorashori Nazrul" at 11:05 am.
On an interesting note, Keka Ferdousi's cooking show aired at 6 pm will feature Nazrul's favourite dishes.
The tele-film "Priya Tumi Shukhi Hou" based on Nazrul's work will also be aired at 6:30 pm, followed by another special programme at 8:30 pm.
