In memoriam: The one and only Humayun Faridee

In the Bangladeshi showbiz landscape, there has only been one Humayun Faridee. The immensely popular artiste across three mediums — stage, television dramas, and films — did nothing but devote himself to his acting career. In films, he began his journey as a hero but later set unforgettable records as a villain. The late actor was honoured with the Ekushey Padak after his passing.
Today marks the 13th anniversary of Humayun Faridee's passing. Since this morning, his fans have been honouring his memory on social media with heartfelt tributes and deep admiration.

A fan wrote, "There was only one Humayun Faridee." While a second fan expressed, "There will never be another actor like Humayun Faridee." Most fans claim, "He is one of the finest actors this country has ever seen."
Humayun Faridee was a multifaceted actor who portrayed all kinds of characters, excelling across every medium. However, audiences still haven't forgotten his portrayal of Kankata Ramzan — a remarkable character from the groundbreaking drama "Sangsaptak". With this role, he won the hearts of viewers from all walks of life.
He also gained immense popularity for his role as Seraj Talukder in the tele-fiction "Bhangoner Shobdo Shuni". In the acclaimed drama "Kothao Keu Nei", he played a lawyer, a role that also left a lasting impact.

Some of his most talked-about stage plays include "Shakuntala", "Fani Manasa", "Kittankhola", "Keramat Mangal", and "Muntasir Fantasy" among others. He notably performed with Dhaka Theatre in the play "Sangbad Cartoon".
Today, renowned artistes from the entertainment industry also paid tribute to him by sharing their thoughts and memories on Facebook.
Actress Ferdousi Majumdar recalled, "Humayun Faridee had the heart of a child—so pure and simple. He was a straightforward person and was born with immense acting talent. We all witnessed his genius. I would say he was not just a great actor but also an extraordinary human being. He was extremely respectful to people, and I have been very fond of him. Whenever he was part of a gathering, the atmosphere would change entirely."

Actor Afzal Hossain reminisced, "Looking back, countless memories come flooding in. There is no end to the memories I have with him. Faridee and I entered the industry with fervour. We were great friends for a long time. We first met while working at Dhaka Theatre."
Veteran actor Raisul Islam Asad shared, "Faridee was one of my closest friends. If I had to sum him up in one sentence, I would say—he was the finest actor of our time. As friends, we spent some of our best moments together. I don't just remember him on his death anniversary; I remember him all the time."
