The Bangladesh Film Certification Board, restructured and renamed in September after being reformed in August, included filmmaker Khijir Hayat Khan as one of its 15 members. However, Khan stepped down in November, just three weeks after its formation.

On Tuesday, December 3, Khijir announced his resignation via Facebook, writing,

"Holding a government position doesn't mean one has to censor their thoughts. Thousands didn't sacrifice their lives or endure injuries in '24 for that. If this is the rule, I don't accept it. At this stage in life, I can't change myself for any position or title, nor do I want to become a conformist."

He added, "The good news is that considering all this, I voluntarily resigned from the Bangladesh Film Certification Board three weeks ago for personal reasons."

In a statement to the media, he reaffirmed that his resignation was for personal reasons.

The Film Certification Board was established by the interim government to address longstanding demands from filmmakers. The 15-member board includes notable figures such as film critic Dr Zakir Hossain Raju, filmmaker and producer Rafiqul Anowar Russell, actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed, and others. Kazi Hayat, president of the Film Directors' Association, is also a member.

The board is chaired by the secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, with the vice chairman of the Bangladesh Film Censor Board serving as the member secretary.
