'Kerala Story' is a propaganda film: Kamal Haasan
Sudipto Sen's controversial film, has been dubbed a propaganda film by actor-politician Kamal Haasan.
While talking with the media in Abu Dhabi, the actor stated that it was not enough for the filmmakers to include a 'true story' at the bottom of the film's title and expect people to accept it.
According to the news agency ANI, Kamal Haasan stated, "I told you, I am against propagandist films. It's not enough to write 'true story' as a logo at the bottom. It needs to be true, and that is not the case."
Sudipto Sen's "The Kerala Story" stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani, and Sonia Balani in prominent parts, which was released on May 5. Vipul Shah produced it, and has grossed over Rs 200 crores at the box office.
"The Kerala Story" sparked criticism following the release of its teaser. It alleged that around 32000 Kerala women were coerced into converting to Islam and joining ISIS. The image was then removed from the trailer, and the trailer description stated that it was the story of three ladies from Kerala.
"The Kerala Story" sparked a tremendous political uproar, with many accusing it of being a propaganda. While celebrities such as Kangana Ranaut, Ram Gopal Varma, Vivek Agnihotri, and others defended the film, a few people on the internet expressed their dissatisfaction with it. A group of people also urged that the film be banned.
