‘Jinn’ going head-to-head with 'Pathaan'

Shajal Noor and Puja Chery's film, "Jinn", was released this Eid. After the film's release, "Jinn" has been performing well in theatres across Dhaka and the rest of the country. The film has been directed by Nader Chowdhury.

"Jinn" and Bollywood blockbuster "Pathaan" are running side by side in Bashundhara's Cineplex and Jamuna's Blockbuster halls. "Jinn" is captivating the audience's attention despite having to compete with one of the most talked about and record-grossing films in recent history, "Pathaan".

The film's director, Nader Chowdhury spoke to The Daily Star about the situation.

"I am grateful to the audience. I will thank them and remember them for the rest of my life. 'Jinn' has been running for four consecutive weeks now," shared Nader Chowdhury.

The director also noted how "Jinn" and "Pathaan" are going head-to-head in theatres. He stated that he was happy that the audience have continued to come to theatres to watch "Jinn". According to Nader Chowdhury, this is how the country's cinema industry can make progress.

Shajal, the lead actor of "Jinn" said, "It is great news that 'Jinn' is running in tandem with 'Pathaan'. I'm truly indebted to the audience forever for this."

Meanwhile, a three-day "Jinn" festival is starting in Cumilla Town Hall, where the film will be screened over the next three days. Speaking about this, Nader Chowdhury said, "This is great news for the Cumilla audience. We are also going to screen the movie there for everyone."

Finally, Shajal said, "Residents of Cumilla can watch this movie for the next three days. I am hoping that I will be able to be there to watch the film with them."
