‘Jibon Theke Neya’ cinematographer, Afzal Chowdhury, passes away

Afzal Chowdhury, the cinematographer behind the timeless cinematic masterpiece "Jibon Theke Neya", has passed away. On Thursday, the artiste breathed his last in a hospital in the capital. He was 92 years old.
Sources from his family have confirmed that Afzal Chowdhury passed away due to age-related ailments.
Hailing from Sirajganj, Afzal Chowdhury's journey into the world of photography began during his childhood. In 1950, he ventured to Bombay with aspirations of pursuing a career in filmmaking.
His professional career started in 1960 with the film "Aur Bhi Gum He" in Karachi. However, his path took a significant turn when he received an invitation from esteemed filmmaker Zahir Raihan to work on the film "Kacher Deyal". Relocating to Dhaka, he began his journey as a cinematographer in the city.
Afzal Chowdhury's talent extended beyond his collaboration with Zahir Raihan. Apart from his iconic work in "Jibon Theke Neya", he worked in films, such as "Shangam", "Bahana", and "Aayna".
