‘Ityadi’ travels to Chuadanga for its new episode
The popular magazine show "Ityadi" has filmed its latest episode in Chuadanga, continuing its long-standing tradition of taking the programme beyond studio walls and into different regions of the country.
Since the 1990s, "Ityadi" has regularly travelled across Bangladesh in search of local stories, culture and heritage. As part of that journey, the new episode was recorded in Chuadanga, an old town known for its history and cultural significance.
The stage for this episode was set at the premises of Natuda Secondary School, a more-than-a-century-old educational institution built during the British colonial period and popularly known as Hazar Duari. The historic setting was used as the backdrop for the programme's performances.
The episode features two songs, one of which is performed by folk singers Beauty and Pantha Kanai. The lyrics were written by Mohammad Rafiquzzaman, with music arranged by Mehedi.
The programme opens with a dance performance accompanied by an introductory song that reflects Chuadanga's cultural heritage and historical background. Written by Shah Alam Soni, the song is composed by Hanif Sanket and arranged by Mehedi. Local dancers performed the piece.
Several segments in the episode focus specifically on Chuadanga. These include reports highlighting the district's history, heritage and notable landmarks, as well as a feature on an unconventional local rhyme writer presented in "Ityadi's" regular "letters" segment.
The episode also includes short satirical skits addressing social issues and contemporary concerns, such as performative charity, broken dreams under financial pressure, excessive indulgence in sweets, the marginalisation of Bangla under the dominance of English, misunderstandings in daily life, fashion-related mishaps and misplaced priorities. These segments feature performances by Solaiman Khoka, Subhashish Bhowmik, Abdullah Rana, Amin Azad, Kazi Asad, Mukit Zakaria, Anwar Shahi, Shahed Ali, Jamil Hossain, Ananda Khaled, Tariq Swapan and Abu Hena Rony, among others.
The episode will be aired on Bangladesh Television on December 26, following the 8pm Bangla news bulletin.
"Ityadi" is written, directed and hosted by Hanif Sanket, and produced by Fagun Audio Vision.
