Govt undertaking multifaceted initiatives to boost BFDC: Information Adviser

Information and Broadcasting Adviser Mahfuj Alam stated that the government has initiated a range of multifaceted measures to strengthen the operational capacity of the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC).

He made the remarks on Wednesday (April 23) during a focus group discussion organised by BFDC at the meeting room of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Highlighting the vast market potential of the country's film industry, the adviser stated that this potential must be utilised, calling for collective efforts from BFDC and all stakeholders in the film sector.

Mahfuj Alam also emphasised the need for both infrastructural development and skill enhancement of BFDC officials and staff. 

He assured that the government will provide all-out support in this regard.

Referring to the under-construction film city in Kabirpur, the adviser said there is considerable interest among film professionals. He urged all concerned to expedite the development of the modern film city.

Speaking at the discussion, Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farzana said that BFDC's existing infrastructure must be renovated for shooting purposes. She also stressed the importance of enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the Kabirpur film city.

BFDC Managing Director Masuma Rahman Tani stated that the organisation is operating amid various limitations and sought government support to advance the ongoing reform efforts.

The focus group discussion was attended by film directors, producers, cinematographers, and other stakeholders in the industry.
