Five exciting films hit theatres today
As the joyous occasion of Eid ul Azha arrives, movie enthusiasts across the country are in for a treat as five highly anticipated films hit the silver screen today. With approximately 60 theatres operating regularly, the number has soared to 168 during the Eid festivities, creating a buzz of excitement among cinema-goers.
Leading the pack is Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan's latest film, "Priyotoma," which has secured 105 theatres for its release. Directed by Himel Ashraf and written by the late Faruk Hossain, the film is a captivating blend of romance and drama. Sharing the screen with Shakib Khan is the talented Kolkata actress Idhika Paul, whose presence adds a touch of glamour to the movie. The intriguing look of Shakib Khan and the songs have already generated anticipation among the audiences.
Another noteworthy release is "Shurongo," directed by Raihan Rafi. This film marks the big-screen debut of popular actor Afran Nisho, further piquing the curiosity of moviegoers. Starring alongside Nisho is the talented Tama Mirza. Produced by Alpha-i and Chorki, "Shurongo" will be screened in 28 theaters.
Rafi expressed his gratitude to the audience for the overwhelming response, with almost all tickets for the first day sold out.
Another film in the spotlight is the highly anticipated film "Prohelika," directed by Chayanika Chowdhury. The movie will be released in eight halls. "Prohelika" marks the return of the beloved actor Mahfuz Ahmed after an eight-year hiatus from the silver screen. The presence of Shobnom Bubly and versatile actor Nasir Uddin Khan further adds to the excitement. Chayanika has promised a captivating storyline and exceptional performances from the entire cast, ensuring a cinematic experience like no other.
Releasing in 17 theatres, Saikat Nasir's "Casino" is set to captivate audiences with its intriguing plot centred around illegal casinos and money laundering in Bangladesh. This film showcases a new on-screen pairing of Shobnom Bubly and Nirab Hossain, bringing a fresh dynamic to the story. With action sequences and an engaging narrative, "Casino" aims to become a favourite among this year's Eid releases.
Lastly, Apu Biswas takes on the lead role in "Laal Shari," a film she both produces and stars in. This government-funded project, directed by Bandhan Biswas, delves into the lives of handloom weavers, highlighting their struggles and aspirations. The film will be released in 12 theatres. The film showcases Apu Biswas in the role of an influential weaver's daughter, with Symon Sadik as her co-star. "Laal Shari" promises a poignant tale of love and societal complexities, creating a powerful cinematic experience.
