Dipu, Tarique from 'Dipu Number 2' reunite off-screen
"Dipu Number 2" is one of the most iconic coming-of-age movies in Bangladesh's history. Both the child actors Arun Saha (Dipu) and Shubhashish (Tarique) gained immense popularity from the success of this film. While the duo received a lot of movie offers, they were never seen performing together again.
Prolific writer Muhammed Zafar Iqbal conceptualised "Dipu Number 2" in the mid-eighties. Twelve years after the novel's release, director Morshedul Islam would make the film based on the novel.
The film would go on to win two National Film Awards—one for Best Child Artiste (Arun Saha) and Best Actor in a Supporting role (Bulbul Ahmed).
The two child artistes who found immense fame in the 1996 movie, never reunited again on the silver screen. Eventually, Shubhashish would try his hand at directing short-films, while Arun hid himself from the public eye for many years.
Now, after many years, Dipu and Tarique's picture were seen on the official Facebook page for the movie "Dipu Number 2". The picture showcased how the pair of Arun and Shubhashish had grown up, as they posed for a photo alongside director Morshedul Islam.
The photo was captioned, "Many people want to know where Dipu and Tarique are now, and how they are doing. This picture is for all of you."
The post continued that if fans wanted to learn more about the personal lives of Arun and Shubhashish, then they should keep their eyes on the "Somoyer Golpo" Facebook page.
