Recently, there have been discussions that Bollywood superhit "Pathaan" would soon be released in Bangladesh. To this end, 19 film associations have put forth several conditions pertaining to the release of the film.

Among them, Nipun Akter, General Secretary of the Bangladesh Film Artistes' Association, had demanded that 10 percent of profits should be given to the Artistes Association if "Pathaan" was released in Bangladesh.

Yesterday, during a Film Directors' Association meeting at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Film City in Gazipur, actor Dipjol had told The Daily Star, "Why do we have to import Hindi films?  On what logic will Hindi cinemas run during the month of language? Good movies are being made in our own country. Even audiences have started returning to cinema halls over the last couple of months. If a film's story is good, then audiences will definitely start returning to the halls again."

He also added, "In the past, when there was unrest in the industry, we carried Bengali cinema on our backs. Hindi cinema is not the solution to fixing the state of our cinema halls. I am confident that Bengali cinema will continue to improve. The people of this country want to see Bengali films, not Hindi films. Why do the Artistes' Association want a share of the profits of 'Pathaan'? Why don't they do something themselves? I am and will continue to be against the import of Hindi films."
