Ajay Devgn- Tabu's 'Drishyam' franchise to get official Korean remake
Ajay Devgn and Tabu's hit film franchise "Drishyam" is set to make its mark in South Korea with an official Korean remake. Panorama Studios from India and Anthology Studios from South Korea have joined hands for this collaboration, which was announced at the India Pavilion during the ongoing Cannes Film Festival.
The original film, a Malayalam crime thriller directed by Jeethu Joseph, follows the story of Georgekutty and his family who become prime suspects when the son of a high-ranking police official goes missing. The success of the movie led to remakes and sequels in four Indian languages.
This new remake holds significance as it marks the first time a Hindi film is being officially remade in Korean, presenting an exciting opportunity to expand the reach of the 'Drishyam' franchise globally.
Kumar Mangat Pathak, the head of Panorama Studios, expressed his excitement about this development and the potential it holds for Indian cinema. Jay Choi, the co-founder of Anthology Studios, also shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the significance of this major co-production between Korea and India. The Korean remake of 'Drishyam' will be executive produced by Jack Nguyen, a former Warner Bros executive, who is thrilled to be part of this groundbreaking Indian-Korean co-production.
