The Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy is organising a month-long traditional Jatra (folk theatre) performance festival throughout December to celebrate Victory Month.

The festival, running from December 1 to 31, will feature daily performances at 6:30 pm at the Experimental Theatre Hall. Jatra troupes from various parts of Bangladesh have registered to participate in the event.

Tickets for the performances are priced at 100 taka, with all proceeds going directly to the respective performing troupes. This initiative aims to provide financial support to artistes working to preserve this traditional art form.

In addition to the evening performances, the National Theatre Hall's open courtyard will host patriotic Jatra song concerts daily from 5 pm, celebrating Bangladesh's liberation spirit during Victory Month.

Organised by the Drama and Film Department of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, the festival seeks to revive interest in Jatra. It is a traditional theatrical form that has been an integral part of Bengali cultural heritage for centuries.
