Mamunur Rashid’s ‘Tumba O Protibeshi’ to stage this Eid

The stage play "Tumba O Protibeshi" featuring eminent theatre personality Mamunur Rashid is set to be performed at the Riddhi Gallery in Mirpur-11 on Eid day and the second and third days of Eid. Produced by Bangla Theatre, the play has been written, directed, and performed by Mamunur Rashid himself.
Speaking to Prothom Alo, Mamunur Rashid said, "There aren't many cultural activities in the Mirpur area. I want to connect with the audience here, which is why we're staging the play in Mirpur."
The storyline follows Rahat Chowdhury, a retired man in his sixties. Initially, his relationship with Tumba, the pet dog of his neighbour Rubaiyat Ali, is not very cordial. However, over time, a bond of friendship develops between them—one that comes at a high cost for Rahat Chowdhury. His wife, frustrated by the situation, eventually leaves their home, and in his loneliness, Tumba becomes his only companion. A certain incident then plunges Rahat Chowdhury into an even deeper solitude.
The play's assistant director is Shamima Shawkat, with stage design by Hashim Masud, lighting design by Thandu Raihan, and music direction by Muktaneel. The sound projection is handled by Sourav Roy, costume design by Salma Khan, and voice narration by Arif Hossain, while the publication design is by Apu Mehdi.
Advance ticket sales for the play have already begun through Bangla Theatre. The venue, Riddhi Gallery, is conveniently located near the Mirpur-11 Metro Station, making it easily accessible for interested audiences from across Dhaka.
