Farooki announces state tribute for Humayun Ahmed’s birthday
Cultural Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has announced an extensive celebration to honor legendary writer and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed on his 77th birthday on November 13.
In a Facebook post on Monday night, Farooki revealed that the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy is preparing to celebrate Humayun Ahmed as part of the 'Celebrating Bangladeshi Legends' series. He emphasised that this year's programme will be larger and more elaborate than previous editions.
"This time we will celebrate Humayun Ahmed on November 13. This edition will be bigger, with more extensive arrangements. There will be music, film screenings, and discussions," Farooki wrote.
He added a poetic touch to his announcement, saying, "It would have been nice if November 13 was a full moon night. But the calendar says the full moon is on November 5. No problem. That day will be a full moon of love."
Describing Humayun Ahmed's cultural significance, Farooki shared, "Humayun Ahmed is perhaps the most influential cultural icon in post-independence Bangladesh."
The cultural adviser requested fans of Humayun Ahmed to follow the Shilpakala Academy's Facebook page for detailed information about the programme, which will be announced soon. He invited everyone to participate in the event and other associated activities planned for the celebration.
