Cartoonist Shikha no more

Renowned cartoonist Shahanara Nargis Shikha is no more. The artist passed away while undergoing treatment at Ahsania Mission Cancer and General Hospital in Uttara, on Tuesday morning. She was 44 years old at the time of her passing.

On May 18, Shikha had been admitted to the hospital after suffering from post-stroke complications. When her condition deteriorated, Shikha was shifted to intensive care unit (ICU) on May 29. On Tuesday morning, around 9:30 am, the on-duty doctor declared that she was dead. The artist was buried at Rayer Bazar graveyard in Dhaka after the namaz-e-janaza.

Shikha was an alumnus of the Department of Statistics at the University of Dhaka. She had began drawing cartoons as a student.

She had been involved with Prothom Alo, Rosh+Alo and the satire magazine Unmad for many years. Shikha had also worked as a book illustrator and cover designer.
