Xefer–Pritom’s first on-screen pairing to release on Binge
Shihab Shaheen’s romantic web film “Tumi Ami Shudhu”, starring singer turned actors Xefer Rahman and Pritom Hasan, finally has a release date. First announced last year, the web film will premiere on Binge this Pohela Boishakh.
Since its announcement last year, the project generated considerable curiosity, with audiences eager to see the fresh pairing on screen.
Despite the growing buzz, the makers were unable to confirm a release date due to platform-related delays. Addressing this, Shihab Shaheen said the film was completed within the expected timeframe, but Binge faced “official and technical issues” that delayed the announcement. “I don’t believe the delay has been excessive. The chosen time is festive, and I hope audiences will enjoy the film as part of the New Year celebrations,” he added.
The director describes “Tumi Ami Shudhu” as a contemporary love story with a fresh narrative approach. “It is modern in its treatment, yet grounded in familiar emotions and experiences,” he said.

Casting two musicians in lead roles initially raised questions, but the director remains confident. “Pritom and Xefer have already proven their acting abilities in my earlier works, ‘Kacher Manush Dure Thuiya’ and ‘Myself Allen Swapan 2’. This is not just my view—I believe audiences will agree. Pritom balances music and acting well, and Xefer is deeply sincere about her craft.”
Pritom appeared in “Cactus”, directed by Shihab Shaheen, which released this Eid-ul-Fitr. He described Shihab Shaheen as one of the country’s most distinctive storytellers. Reflecting on their collaboration, he said returning to work with the director on a new story and character has been an exciting experience. He added that audiences will find both freshness and depth in the film.
Xefer Rahman, meanwhile, called the project a long-awaited opportunity. “This is the kind of story I had been waiting for. It gave me the space to prove myself as an actor. I have tried to give my best, and it is a very memorable project for me,” she said.
