Actress Samia Othoi has alleged that she was assaulted by fellow actress Tanjin Tisha during the shooting of an Eid drama in Manikganj. Othoi made the claim in a Facebook Live session, stating that the incident occurred while filming a slapping scene.

Speaking about the incident, Othoi said, “There was a scene in which I had to slap my co-actor Tanjin Tisha. In the story, Tisha’s character is mentally unstable. The director briefed me about the scene, and I slapped her very lightly. However, immediately afterwards, Tisha apa slapped me back. Not only that, she hit me repeatedly in front of everyone on set.”

Breaking down in tears during the live session, Othoi further alleged, “Yesterday as well, during another scene, she hurt my hand. I did not say anything then. But I cannot accept what happened today. She hit me within the scene, swelling my cheek. My eye has also become swollen. I have never experienced anything like this on a set in my life. I want justice.”

Meanwhile, Tanjin Tisha addressed the matter and told The Daily Star, “Many of you have been trying to reach me regarding this issue. I was busy shooting and did not want to disrupt the production, so I couldn’t speak earlier. The live session had already created chaos on set, and she left without completing her scene. As it was a sun-to-sun schedule, I chose to finish my work before addressing the matter.”

She further added, “In the drama, I am portraying a special child and performed strictly according to the script. Given the nature of the character, certain physical actions were part of the role. In 15 to 20 days, when the project is released, the audience will be able to judge the character and its demands for themselves.”
According to Tisha, the allegation of hitting was out of personal grudge and she claimed it to be entirely untrue. “Everything was done in a professional context, in front of the director, senior artistes, and the entire team. Any improvisation was within the scope of the character. It is unfortunate that a professional matter has been taken personally.”

She also mentioned a sensitive issue regarding cleanliness. “To authentically portray the character, I immersed myself fully in the environment required by the script — whether sitting in fields, near the river, or in difficult conditions. Personal remarks about this are disappointing, especially from one female artiste to another. I believe everything will become clear once the audience watches the production.”

The drama is directed by Md Rafat Majumder Rinku. Speaking to Prothom Alo, he said, “There was a slapping scene in the drama, included as required by the character. While attempting to slap each other lightly, someone may have felt it was harder than intended. It was a misunderstanding between the two. It was not anything serious. Samia Othoi left the set feeling upset over the matter. The others are still present.”

The Eid drama also features Shahiduzzaman Selim, Momena Chowdhury and Mir Rabby, among others. Actor Shahiduzzaman Selim told Prothom Alo, “When minor incidents occur among us, they are often magnified. We could have resolved this matter through discussion, and we were moving in that direction. Later, I heard that Samia Othoi had left. I called her. The first time, she answered and cried, then disconnected. She neither returned the call nor answered again. Disagreements can happen in professional settings. We will try to resolve them among ourselves.”
