Pritom Hasan teams up with Runa Laila for ‘Prince,’ calls it a dream collaboration
Social media was abuzz yesterday as news broke of a collaboration between Pritom Hasan and legendary vocalist Runa Laila for a song in the upcoming film “Prince.” The announcement quickly drew attention from fans and music lovers alike.
A longtime admirer of the iconic singer, Pritom shared that he had always hoped to create something truly special for her. Recalling their earlier meetings, he revealed that he would often tell her, “Since it’s you, I need to bring something I’ve never done before… give me a little more time.”
Given Runa Laila’s vast and celebrated catalogue, Pritom knew that an ordinary composition would not do justice. The opportunity finally came about three months ago, when Shakib Khan and the “Prince” team approached him to create a dance track for the film.
Opening up about what the collaboration means to him, the singer described Runa Laila as more than just an artist for his generation. “She’s an institution across South Asia and she’s still ahead of her time. Of course, she would say “Yes” to my little experiments. I don’t think people understand how lucky I am feeling about this. Having her on my composition and sharing the same track.”
He further hinted at a turning point in his musical journey. While the upcoming “Prince” track embraces a high-energy dance vibe, Pritom suggested that it may be his last voiced dance number for films for some time.
“This will probably be my last voiced dance track for films for a while. I feel like going back to songs like ‘Shoroter Shesh Thekey’, ‘Morey Jaak’, ‘Khoka’—less hype, more soul,” he said.
Pritom concluded by thanking listeners for their continued support, as well as criticism, acknowledging that both have played an important role in shaping his journey in film music.
